BAM reports unreliable time

When reporting statistics, BAM can report unreliable time, as there are no thread-safe timers. See documentation for class ThreadSafeTimerContainer, discussion under upstream commit 1c2b2ed5, and some fixes in 36b65800 and b55c73e3.
